Revolution

Our potential, like a budding flower,
ahead of us in our youth.
Yet in our future, is a light gone out,
this is an inevitable truth.
Between the ends is our great chance,
reaching our potential, if we will.
Looking back, and with regret,
leaves emptiness you can not fill.
Looking to now, and what lies ahead,
removes vanity from this strife.
We see a revolution of this cycle,
present throughout our life.
The opportunities come and gone,
others we have here and now.
Some remain yet in our future,
later to be realized somehow.
At the end of the greatest cycle,
it seems potential is no more.
The light goes out, but a bud begins,
in another time and place, as before.
